“4,748 Self-Portraits and Counting: Jeff Harris”

It’s interesting to see any art form intertwined with real life experiences and struggles that we as humans learn to endure,over come or naturally adapt to. Jeff Harris documented his everyday life and his journey through out cancer & becoming paralyzed in one leg through the medium of photography. I applaud him for his courage to let strangers like us into his everyday life and most importantly show case how life is essentially supposed to be lived… “yolo” if you will (lol) I also enjoyed the role exchange between a regular person and a celebrity persona, it’s interesting to me. For some odd reason I’m always attracted to art that is engaged with cancer but it’s not meant to make me or others feel sorrow or sadness but more as a reminder that anything can happen and we as a human race believe that we are “untouchable” and that we can’t be affected by life altering experiences and to thank god & count your blessings. Being that my mother runs a breast cancer support group I see women in just about every stage of cancer & all of them seem to enjoy life more & it really keeps me going and makes it clear to me as to how minute my problems are. The idea of simplicity revealed itself to me in the midst of total chaos & confusion & in that moment I began to ask myself, “Does doing this making you happy?” “Does being around this person make me happy?” & “Does the situation that Im in make me happy?” Being that most of the answers to these questions were no, I had to make a change & instill a sense of balance back into my life. I think that a lot of us get so caught up in things that we feel we “have” to do or we have to say yes to & we end up losing site of our own happiness. For me it was more of a “creative blockage” I remember the days where I couldn’t wait to do my post on here or I couldn’t wait to pick out something to sketch out & then my passion for it just diminished over time. I was focusing my energy on things I couldn’t change & after noticing this I just immediately began to remove things in my life that doesn’t make me happy or takes up that creative place in my mind. Now that Im going forward learning from this experience & moving on Im on a negativity blocking spree & Im striving to keep things simple & not overly complex.In a way I feel as if Im purifying, I know most of you are probably thinking this is a really personal post but reading this is a reminder to you guys to stay true to who you are & what makes you happy & don’t EVER give a person or a situation the chance to take your happiness from you. I’ve always gave you guys a glimpse of me on here & that won’t ever change & it sets my blog on a different platform…. A platform that only I can create.

I found this video very interesting for the simple fact that everyone has experienced heartbreak & we can all relate to this project. We all have a different story to tell in dealing with heartbreak and its interesting to hear someone’s story because we all know that heartbreak can completely rip you apart or it can present a new path or new beginning. Though it’s an very emotional situation and process she has the courage to share her story and I respect that.

“Always In My Ears.”

This song is literally blasting out of my laptop now as I type! I’m a sucker for the oldies and I like to listen first hand to the artist who inspired our artist that we listen to now. I always try to go back and see if a “newer” song has been sampled from an oldie and usually it is so I came across this and we all know who sampled this one! Gotta love this song it’s spewing with soul! I’ll give you guess the “in music” on my next post!

Yes I am guilty as charged, I love food and anything that has to do with it! Tv shows, Food Network, Cooking Channel, Whole Foods, ALL that jazz plus the whole nine! I’m surprised I haven’t started a food post on here yet! Anywho! So I browse the clearance movies at Target when I get a chance & TA-DA “Julie & Julia” was on the shelf for about 5 bucks, a steal right! I was going to buy it when it first came out but being that I’m frugal for one & the movie was 20 bucks I passed on that idea! Be my guess & Laugh it up! After watching this awesome movie which includes blogging in the main characters life I did a little research and came across this quote, which I really needed to see!
